As announced this morning at church, we are very excited to share that Keith Jagger will be taking on the role of Grassroots Lead & Teaching Pastor! Through much prayer, conversation and consideration, The Pastoral Search Team and Lead Team by consensus felt God’s leading in the direction of Keith. Input from our community following the Jagger’s recent visit to Thunder Bay confirmed our thoughts, so we were very excited to offer Keith the job, and for him to accept! As we have mentioned before, there are a lot of reasons why we are excited about this Keith. He is very well qualified, having been mentored by Dr. Ben Witherington III and N.T. Wright, and achieving a PhD in Biblical Studies. He has experience in packaging the scriptures into a form that is relevant for churches. His work in teaching, mentoring, discipling and providing spiritual direction for different groups of people is impressive. We feel that Keith is a natural fit to our community, and are excited about the possibilities in our future together.
To give you a little glimpse into the hearts and minds of the Jaggers right now, as they accept our offer, please read below a note that they sent on to Grassroots:
Dear Brad, Grassroots Pastoral Search Team, and Grassroots community,
Eve and I wanted to write to express our gratitude to everyone for your hospitality during our recent visit. We were struck by your love for the scriptures, your heart for Thunder Bay, and the powerful way that you have become a church family for those in need of belonging in this world. We feel we can see ourselves living among you, discovering more of what it means find our place in God’s story together.
This is why we sense that God is calling us confidently to accept your offer to serve as Grassroots Lead Teaching and Vision pastor. We are excited to continue this journey together and to get to know the church in a deeper way. While there will be more details to come, I wanted to take the moment to express our excitement about this calling and my gratitude to Brad and the Pastoral Search Team for your diligence, prayerfulness, professionalism, and care. You have all treated us with such honor. We are humbled.
So for now, thank you, and we hope to see you soon,
Keith, Eve, Claire, and Autumn
Thank you to everyone; for praying for the Pastoral Search Team, Lead Team, the Jaggers, and the search process. For providing input. For welcoming the Jaggers when they were visiting. And, for encouraging this process along in many different and meaningful ways. It is so very much appreciated!
Please continue to pray for the Jaggers and for Grassroots as we all enter into a period of transition. May God continue to lead us.
