Children’s Ministry

As children make up a big part of our congregation, they also make up a big part of what we do! Children’s ministry at Grassroots has always been quite constant in the way we approach it. To put it simply, we want to equip kids with God’s Word, to know the narrative story of the Bible, and to be able to see how we, as Christians in this day, fit into this story of redemption.

Sunday School is offered at 9:30 every Sunday from September to June for children of all ages – preschool to grade eight. There are six classes with consistent teachers, so the kids can really get to know their teacher and vice versa. Nursery is also available for babies up to age two. All teachers are expected to have attended the Plan to Protect program, as well as have submitted a current police check, and been interviewed with members from our staff and/or lead team at Grassroots. By teaching through the Bible stories in order, we aim to give the kids a really clear understanding of the timeline of the Bible. As well, we also place emphasis on memorizing scripture and challenging the kids to be living their lives in light of what Jesus has done for us.  With games, crafts, and other activities to accompany the lesson, it’s always a great time!

During the message portion of the morning there is childcare available for ages 6 and under. While this differs from the Sunday School program prior to the message (as there will be no Bible lesson), you can expect the same great care from competent volunteers. With activity centres like playdough, crafts, play-house toys, and books, kids can expect a fun-filled half hour while their parents or caregivers take in the message.
