The early Church thrived on four things: devotion to prayer and studying the Word, meeting one another’s needs, and breaking bread together in one another’s homes. We believe that small groups of people living these early Church values out together is the best context for growing in Jesus’s love. It is our place to be really known by others who may be very different from us as we learn self-less love, open up our stories to others who may not think exactly the way we do, practice hearing from God together, provide community for other isolated, hurting, and lonely people, and to forge spiritual friendships that encourage and inspire us to love like Jesus.
Groups meet every-other week from October-June, and leaders are encouraged to include men’s and women’s only meetings in the rotation of meetings. We have been encouraging a model called formation in common in which groups meet weekly for prayer, reading of a selected scripture, and group conversation, led not by a teacher but by a lead-listener.
You can sign up for a group by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org and letting us know that you want to join in. We’ll help you take the steps you need to join a group.
