Pastoral Care
If you’re in crisis or going through a tough time, we’re here for you.
The Pastoral Care Team is a compassionate and dedicated group of volunteers from within the community who are committed to providing spiritual, emotional, and practical support to individuals within the church family. We understand that life’s journey can be filled with challenges, transitions, and moments of both joy and difficulty. Our team is here to offer a listening ear, a caring heart, and a helping hand to guide you through these times.
What We Do
- Supportive Presence: We are here to actively listen, empathize, and create a safe space for open and confidential conversations. Our team members will provide non-judgmental support, allowing you to express thoughts and feelings without hesitation.
- Guidance: Whether you’re facing personal struggles, seeking guidance in your spiritual journey, or simply in need of someone to talk to, we offer care that is rooted in compassion, understanding, and respect. If counselling services are needed, we will help ensure you get the necessary professional services.
- Prayer and Spiritual Comfort: We offer prayerful support and share in moments of spiritual reflection and growth. Our team is available to uplift and provide comfort through prayer and meaningful conversations that nurture your faith.
- Hospital and Home Visits: In times of illness or difficulty, our team extends its care beyond the walls of our community. We visit hospitals, homes, and care facilities to provide companionship and support.
- Mobilizers of community needs: Maybe it’s not a crisis but you just need a sidewalk shoveled or a simple need. In addition to home groups, the pastoral care team serves to help mobilize the larger community to lend wherever possible.
Who We Are
The volunteers on the Pastoral Care Team are members of Grassroots Church who have committed to a minimal 1 year term to serve in this position. Members benefit from training in one or more Competent Caring workshops. (Note: this training is informal and not licensed. You may be referred to professional counselling services). Learn more about the Competent Caring training.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is at the core of our interactions. We create a safe environment where you can share openly, knowing that what is shared will remain with the individual(s) you speak with. If it is considered appropriate to share beyond the initial individual(s) (i.e. for prayer purposes, etc.) we will request permission before anything is carried out.
